Broome (Tuesday 4th May - Thursday 6th May 2010)

Today we decided to visit Broome's museum instead of starting the day off with our regular beach visit. We then went to Gantheaume Point to see if we could see any dinosaur footprints which the area is famous for. We only managed to see cast impressions of ones found. Apparently at extremely low tide you can see the actual thing. In any case the incredible rock formations, crabs in the rock pools and beautiful coast line were pretty impressive. After a late afternoon dip in the pool we headed off to Cable Beach to watch another spectacular sunset. Another lazy day in paradise.

Wednesday 5th May
Down to the beach early and hired the girls some boogie boards. Spent the morning at the beach before heading back to camp for lunch and an afternoon swim in the pool.

Thursday 6th May
Sadly our last day in Broome. Met more Melbournians from Mentone this time who arrived at the park this afternoon. They have come the opposite direction to us so we exchanged information about what sights to see, some of the better caravan parks to go to, national parks to visit and of course the best (very few around), coffee shops to visit in that moment of desperation! Became true locals this evening and went 'BROOMING'. This is when you either drive down onto the beach or walk, take your fold out chairs, plonk them on the beach, pour a glass of wine or crack open an ice cold beer and watch the sunset. Not bad hey? Let me tell you it was the most relaxing thing to do and spectacular of course. We took down a salad and french stick and layed out our picnic rug and sat until it was dark. Nobody wanted to leave.
Oh well, until next time and there will be a next time. This place is magical. Unfortunately, I didn't bring the camera down to the beach so no photo's to show you but I do have video footage. Packing up and heading off in the morning to Eighty Mile Beach. The girls have been collecting shells from the beach and spent the morning sorting them out. They've got a pretty impressive collection and apparently Eighty Mile Beach has loads of shells so they're both excited about that. It should be good. Ciao for now!
