Eighty Mile Beach WA to Port Hedland WA (Saturday 8th May 2010)

Travel Day. Eighty Mile Beach to Port Hedland 337km.
Up at 6.30am, had breakfast and packed up camper. Walked to beach and collected shells until 8.30am. It's an addiction. The girls had to have their last fix. The cars getting heavier.
Arrived at Pardoo by 10am. When there are long distances between towns the remote service stations, information centre's in town and some hotels offer showering facilities. Pardoo's local service station offers showers to travellers for $2.50.
Arrived at Port Hedland around 1.30pm. Coming into Port Hedland you're faced with a huge salt pile and the longest never ending iron ore trains. There are 3 main attractions to see in Port Hedland and so far just driving into town we'd seen 2 of them. The other is the big ships at the wharf. After having set up camp by 2pm we went into town to see the big ships, and that was all the attractions covered in Port Hedland!! We were warned by other travellers to keep on driving!!!!!!
We had to call into a mechanics to get our 'radio code' so we could reset it as we lost the use of our radio when Pete put in the new car battery. We also discovered we'd lost our trip meter reading which didn't make Pete too happy. Ooops.
