Our time at Coral Bay was fantastic. We'd been told so much about the great snorkelling here at Ningaloo Reef, that today our first full day we went ahead and purchased snorkelling gear. Talk about jumping in the deep end! We headed out to the fringe reef which takes all of 10 steps when the tide is out and the sand drops away to an under water world display of beautifully coloured fish and coral. None of us had snorkelled before and we weren't disappointed. The reef is really amazing. I think it goes without saying we did suck in some sea water here and there until, by day two, we were experts at it. (sure, sure). Pete was the bravest of the lot of us and went out to the 'outer reef' (dark blue deeper water in the ocean) and let the natural drift of the ocean take him along one side of the reef back to his original starting point. We did all start together but one by one we slowly dropped off as the ocean floor dropped away and we didn't feel so confident any more!!
More often than not the girls got stuck into their homework in the mornings so the rest of the day was free to spend at the beach. Wednesday night we went to the pub for tea which is at the resort down the road. The girls were pleased because they happened to have an outdoor cinema set up and Shark Tales was showing. Very appropriate. The girls had there tea on the grass watching Shark Tales. We sat and had some very civilized drinks outdoors. The rest of our time here was spent swimming, snorkelling, and lazing on the beach.
We heard reports of an albino going for a swim in coral bay. You still need to work on that tan Bass. Feeling pretty envious back here, 4 degrees this morning. Your photo's are amazing, keep them coming. How is the camper going, are looking forward to a real bed yet. Your not missing much of the footy bass, clearly the bulldogs are waiting for your return before they turn it on. Stay well Bassetts and look forward to seeing you soon.
