Margaret River to Pemberton 155km.
On the road by 9.15am. Sad to leave Muzza's Camp. Great spot. Lovely people.
Headed back into Margaret River for hot breakfast at The Margaret River Bakery. Delicious.
First breakfast we've bought for the whole trip and it was just what the doctor ordered! Drove further south admiring the scenery. Very pretty countryside.
First stop for the day was Jewel Cave. It was huge inside and really impressive. This was well worth the stop.
Entrance into Jewel Cave.
The 'waterfall'
After finishing at Jewel Cave at 1.30pm, we arrived in Augusta at 1.36pm. It's only 4km down the road. Too easy. Here we took a guided tour of the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, the tallest lighthouse on the mainland and stands at the most south westerly tip of Australia. It was a long climb up but the views were great.
AND Cape Leeuwin is the place where the Southern Ocean and Indian Ocean officially meet.
(We made it Nigel!)
We left Augusta and made our way to the Brockman Hwy which took us to a town called Pemberton, an old historic timber town. Coming into Pemberton the road was dwarfed by huge Karri trees. We booked for 2 nights at Pemberton Caravan Park which was in a bush setting and was just what we wanted. You can have camp fires at the park and our site had a pit right next to it. Perfect.
Glad to see you're starting to rug up. We had our first below zero night down at Roseberry last night.
