Went into Nitmiluk National Park and booked a 4hr cruise into Katherine Gorge for tomorrow morning (15th). Down the road from the Big4 we are staying at is Springvale Homestead. Beautiful old pioneering buildings, including the graves of the people who lived there long ago.
At Cutta Cutta Caves we saw impressive stalagmites and stalactites in the lit up caves. The temperature in the caves was up to 35c
because there was only one way in and one way out therefore no natural airflow which made it really humid. We watched three ghost bats flying around in the cave before all lining up to hang up side down side by side. We called into the local railway station to see if we could spot The Ghan and what do you know, there it was. We had an early BBQ dinner then Mark, Kelly and the girls came over for some drinks. Late night.
Its great hearing from you all- we are really enjoying hearing about your journey . Are you checking your emails - Nigel thought he saw you on the TV next to the fast flowing Todd River ( when you were there).
ReplyDeleteYou all look rested despite the fact that you are making good ground .
Look forward to your next entry,
Love Sal & Nige
