Temperature: 36 degrees. Started the day off with the girls doing some homework. Overnight we had a storm and got up to batten down the hatches. The claps of thunder were so loud. The lightening show was a nice sight out the tent window. You could smell the rain coming. Rain on hot dry red dirt. Speaking of dirt, yes it's everywhere and NO it does not come out in the the wash, but it is worth sacraficing a few items of clothing for this magical place.
Today we drove to see The Olgas, or The Ogers as Elizabeth calls them! Again pretty impressive rock formations. We stopped to see the sand dunes then went on to do the Walpa Gorge walk. It was cool in the gorge, had lots of lush green vegetation and rock pools full of tadpoles which the girls were very excited about. The Valley of the Winds walk was closed due to extreme weather conditions and we could only go as far as the first look out point.
An early night, everyone exhausted.
